Sullivan Residence
The Sullivan are renovating their new contemporary style home located in Asheville, North Carolina to better suit their needs, they plan on living in this home for many years to come and want the space to be adaptable to their needs in the future, especially as their daughters grow up. They have expressed that they would like the space to be great for entertaining four guests at a time, as well as be comfortable for their family when they are home relaxing. The Sullivan’s are quite eclectic in their design tastes and love timeless pieces. Following the trend of “biophilia” – they would love to feel more of the outside brought in to feel a connection with nature and would like to keep the components of their design as sustainable as possible.

For the renovation of this space we will be incorporating a workspace area in each room. The living room is the most used room in the house as the family gather around by the fire to enjoy each other’s company. The outdoors needs to represent a second seating arrangement so that they can relax and be in touch with nature. This well-considered plan will allow us to make better use of the door area. The overall feel of this style is organic modern with bohemian touches. There will be many plants and flowers in their home. Their color palette will entail neutral paint colors. We will be incorporating many different textures and colors into this space that will create visual interest. We will resource furniture, as well as update their lighting and curtains. We have gathered information on the layout of the home, interviewed the Sullivan’s and produce a program specific to the needs, functionality, and aesthetic tastes of the Sullivan’s.
